Newport City Guide

Newport City Guide

We’re finally launching our new city guide series just in time for the weekend!  What better place to start than Newport, RI, a city we know and adore. As Rhode Islander’s we love Newport no matter the time of year, but of course summer is when Newport comes to life. Festivals, gilded mansions, cliffside homes, sandy beaches, outrageous surf, and excellent boutiques are what keep visitors coming back to Newport year after year. There is so much to see and do in  Newport it’s tough to know where to start. That’s why we’re here!

Below you’ll find a complete guide to Newport, Rhode Island but we figured we’d throw in a few recommendations to get you started.

Kick off your vacation with a diner style brunch at the Corner Cafe followed by a day at 2nd Beach. For New England favorites get your clam chowdah at the Black Pearl, your clam cakes at Flo’s Clam Shack, and a lobstah roll with a view at The Mooring. Even more local are two irresistible Rhode Island drinks: the Awful Awful from Newport Creamery and the slushy lemonade from Del’s (get a pretzel stick too!). Stop by our must visit boutique, Kristina Richard’s Studio for top brands and local designers including… drumroll please… Kendra Phillip jewelry! Searching for something special? Try Michael Hayes or Brahmin. Time for sightseeing! Take a cruise down Ocean Drive and admire the classic mansions from afar or pop on your walking shoes and stroll the infamous Newport Cliff Walk. For a night out start at Midtown Oyster Bar for mouth watering oysters, seafood and top-notch cocktails in a typical New England environment followed by a visit to Newport Blues Cafe for some live music and a night cap at the notorious Boom Boom Room.

And most importantly, have fun in Newport!
