Can you believe it’s already April!? Time flies when you’re having trunk shows! To ring in the new month, we have chosen to partner with Ronald McDonald House. This month a portion of all proceeds from our trunk shows will go to Ronald McDonald House.
The Early Days
The first Ronald McDonald House opened on October 15, 1974 in Philadelphia. That year, the McDonald’s owners in Philadelphia helped make the first Ronald McDonald House a success by donating proceeds from McDonald’s famous “Shamrock Shake” to the cause. By 1985, they had crossed continents and opened the first Ronald McDonald House in Europe in Amsterdam, Netherlands. One year later, the 100th house opened in Long Island, NY. Pretty soon, Ronald McDonald Houses were popping up across the globe. Today, there are more than 300 Ronald McDonald Houses in more than 60 countries.
The goal is simple. Ronald McDonald House aims to provide resources for children and their families in times of need. Childhood illnesses often mean lengthy hours at the hospital and a lot of time away from home. To make the families more comfortable, Ronald McDonald House tries to make a space that feels like home. They are dedicated to ensuring families can stay close to their children. They may not be able to make magic medicine, but they are able to ease the pain associated with childhood illnesses.
Making a Change
In 2014, they launched the three-year “RMHC Impact Strategy” with a goal to serve one million more children and their families per year. They are well on their way to that goal, but they need our help. We need to help raise both awareness and funds for the future of the Ronald McDonald house.
Please help us give back this April by making a purchase at any Kendra Phillip Trunk Show. Stay tuned for your monthly newsletter to find out where you can get your hands on some chic metals and give back all at once!
