Why do we care about sustainable fashion?
The fashion industry is the second leading cause of pollution worldwide, ranking just behind the oil industry. At Kendra Phillip we would love to change the path the fashion industry has taken thus far.
The fashion industry uses countless chemicals and natural resources to make our clothing, jewelry, and accessories. Each step of the process contaminates our world in more ways than most consumers can imagine. We are depleting our natural resources at an outstanding rate and threatening our planet with each T-shirt or bracelet we choose to wear. The worst part… all those unwanted clothes and accessories we throw away. Most often, these items are disposed of in landfills with the rest of our waste.
How can we make the fashion industry more sustainable?
Using environmentally friendly materials does not mean compromising creativity. Fashion industry leaders need to be honest with consumers and themselves. If there are no resources left on our planet, how will we be creative at all? By being honest about the issues our planet faces, we can change the fashion industry for the better. We can increase creativity, find alternative materials, and make use of recycled and reused products.
On Kendra Phillip and our steps towards sustainable fashion
At Kendra Phillip, we do believe we can make fashion a sustainable industry. Understanding where your materials come from and how they are made is the first step to improving the fashion industry’s reputation and practices. At Kendra Phillip we yearn to provide high quality jewelry that our clients are proud to wear. We accomplish this by being overly conscious of our environmental impact.
Using recycled and scrap metals helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also helps conserve energy and natural resources. The scrap metal industry in the United States has brought many jobs back to the U.S. and has improved the U.S. economy.
At Kendra Phillip we do not want to harm the environment or its people. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of the sustainable fashion movement. Each time we see our jewelry, we want to be pleased with not only it’s appearance, but how it came to be. We take steps to improve the fashion industry everyday. We use only recycled metals in our manufacturing process to ensure the scraps and no-good pieces are put to fashion-forward and stylish use.
